Gary Reid is a 40+ year veteran of bluegrass and old-time music. In that time, he has been a record producer, concert promoter, writer, historian and is a four-time winner of awards from the International Bluegrass Music Association. In 2014, he launched a one-man play (with music) called “A Life of Sorrow – the Life and Times of Carter Stanley.” As the title implies, it pays tribute to a bluegrass legend. Carter Stanley played the music, he wrote the songs, and… he self-destructed. Gone from the music scene for 50 years, his legacy is largely forgotten. Gary Reid, through his performance in “A Life of Sorrow,” allows today’s audiences to connect with a bluegrass legend.
