As a solo artist and with my band mates in Front Porch Swing and 3 Shades of Blue, I recreate and celebrate an entertaining and engaging blend of American music. I also performs original songs that capture the sound of the recognized masters of those genres.
For years I have been known as a traditional and original acoustic blues performer playing major festivals and clubs across the country, often sharing the bill and the stage with recognized masters of that genre. Now, as a solo artist and with my bands, I put a unique twist on a crowd pleasing repertoire of blues, jazz, honky tonk and vintage rock & roll.
In addition to my performance career, I teach over 40 lessons/week in guitar, mandolin and ukulele at my lesson studio in the Jacksonville Center for the Arts in Floyd, VA. I am also a dedicated educator and ambassador of American music, offering programs and workshops about American music at schools across the country and have published several articles about American music.
My wife, Lisa Kae, and I live on a 40 acre farm in Floyd County, VA where they raise our two sons, dogs, cats, chickens, fruit trees, berry bushes, a vegetable garden and more than a few eyebrows.
