From steak and shrimp, ribs, pasta dishes, chicken and pork to dishes found at other Pocahontas establishments of the past, including the “Cricket” & “Silver Dollar Saloon” burgers, you won’t go away hungry from Ole No. 3. Don’t forget the Gold Dust Cheesecake for dessert.
The coal industry put food on the table and roofs over heads for many families here in the Two Virginias and, while the energy industry is consistently evolving and changing, Pocahontas is ensuring the impact of coal is not forgotten. History is retrofitted, retooled and revitalized as the former bathhouse for the town’s coal mine is now the Ole No. 3 Restaurant and Bar.
The murals on the walls were preserved and restored from a local artist who painted them in the late 1960s and are the perfect backdrop for live music and entertainment. The present-day game room still holds the original walls and windows of the old mine’s bathhouse for those coal miners.
The Ole No. 3 Restaurant is located next to the Exhibition Coal Mine and open Thursday through Sunday from 3 PM – 12 AM.
