Allen Hicks was a mandolin maker. Overtime, pickers started hanging around Allen Hicks’ Allen Hicks was a renowned luthier, and crafted many mandolins. Overtime, musicians gathered at his shop for the opportunity to see and play his mandolins. Allen Hicks formed the Hicks Friday night jam to accommodate these musicians. As the jam grew, Hicks added to his shop, installing professional sound, permanent seating, and concessions.
The Hicks Friday Night Jam is held in Allen Hicks’ memory on the 3rd Friday of the month at 6:30 PM. Gospel night is held the 5th Friday of the month at 6:30 PM. All musicians, singers, and guests are welcome to celebrate in Hicks’ honor.
