About the Affiliated Venues

The Rabbit Ridge Pea Pickers were given their name by the State Police when they played for the coal mine strikers on Rabbit Ridge in the 1960’s and 1970’s. Burl Rhea, and the Rhea family and friends now host the Old Time and Bluegrass jam every Friday night at the Cleveland ballfield and the annual celebration day in the summer. The Rhea family has mined underground for many generations and if you have an interest in coal mining heritage, Burl can show you the family and community photos and historical information he has collected over the years.
