On Friday, July 18, from 12 to 1 p.m., the will present the next edition of its “Lunch on the Lawn” summer music series. This event will showcase the popular local band, the Hillbilly Hippies, and for this occasion only, attendees can pre-order lunches for purchase.
The Hillbilly Hippies are a mountain music string band that is very proud of their Appalachian roots. They perform a wide variety of music and have performed at several local venues in the area. Members include Dawn Bays on fiddle, Mary Lou Carter on banjo, Larry Mullins on guitar, Les Bailey on bass and Joey O’Quinn on banjo. The Hillbilly Hippies have a wonderful way of mixing old-time tunes, 70’s soft rock, country ballads, bluegrass standards and folk songs into a unique show.
Park staff and volunteers will have crafts and activities for children at each “Lunch on the Lawn” program. So, bring the whole family out, have some fun in the beautiful Victorian Garden and enjoy an afternoon of home-grown music and entertainment on the lawn of the museum.
This “Lunch on the Lawn” event is free and open to the public. Attendees can either bring their own lunch or place a preorder for a meal from the park at a cost of $10 per person. The menu includes freshly grilled hamburgers, chips, marinated vegetable salad, dessert, and a beverage of choice. Please note that all orders need to be submitted by noon on Wednesday, July 16.
