Deer Island Park is located  in the middle of Philpott Lake and is ONLY ACCESSIBLE BY BOAT.  Campers must obtain a permit from the gatehouse at Salthouse Branch or Bowens Creek. During the off season (November 1st to March 31st) permits may be obtained at honor vaults located at Ramp 1 and Goose Point Entrance.

Nestled in the rugged foothills of Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains are Philpott and its surrounding public. The clear water and natural shoreline make Philpott a unique place to visit. Over 6,000 acres of surrounding land, 3,000 acres of water and a power plant make up the Philpott Project located in portions of Franklin, Patrick and Henry County.
