The covered bridges in Patrick County are fabulous spots for romance and are full of history making them one of the best experiences in Virginia. There is something about covered bridges that draw people to them. Maybe it’s the feel of being taken back to a simpler time, where life moved a little bit slower. Maybe it’s the taken-care-of feeling you get as you cross over a bridge in a rainstorm. Maybe it’s the seclusion of cuddling up to your better half, out of view from the rest of the world. The fact remains that our covered bridges are romantic spots where lovers can reminisce. The 48-foot oak constructed Jack’s Creek Covered Bridge was built in 1914 by Charles Vaughan and designed by Walter Weaver of Woolwine. Some of Mr. Weaver’s descendants still live in the quaint community and share stories passed down through generations.
