The Jubal Early Homeplace and Archaeological Site is located just off Jubal Early Highway (VA 116) near Boones Mill. It was the home of General Jubal Anderson Early, born in Franklin County in 1816, who spent much of his childhood at the home and grounds nearby.

The original house is thought to have been built in the first decade of the 19th century (c. 1814), and enlarged after 1847. The two-story, 200 year old home has been preserved and refurbished, and now houses educational exhibits, portraits and artifacts that give visitors a look into the life of General Jubal Anderson Early.

The Jubal A. Early Homeplace is A living memorial to Southern Heritage that is  listed on the National Register of Historic Places & a Virginia Historic Landmark, it is one of two sites in Franklin County on the Virginia Civil War Trail.

Guided tours are offered on Sundays from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. Mid April – Mid December. Pet friendly outside
