Camping area features six units with grills and lantern posts, well water and toilets. A wildlife pond is a short walk from the campground. Dismal Falls is nearby and Dismal Creek provides fishing and wading. Numerous hiking trails, including the Appalachian Trail are easily accessible. This 11,113-acre wilderness is the largest in the Jefferson National Forest. It consists of a highland plateau which sits squarely on the eastern continental divide. It features stands of virgin spruce and hemlock, a mountain bog and war spur overlook which provide exceptional views of most of the wilderness.
