The Sanders House Center includes a late 19th century home which was once the centerpiece of a 3,000 acre farm. Built in 1896, it has gorgeous solid oak woodwork, original wood floors, hand-painted imported mural and many of the original furnishings. There are nine fireplaces, three floors and a total of 19 rooms. The grounds include a granary which now houses a gift shop, a railroad museum, a smokehouse, and a spring house, the “Rosie Trigg Cottage” that formally housed the Tazewell County Visitor Center, as well as the reconstructed Bailey Log Cabin. The Sanders House is a historical treasure, preserving aspects of past and contemporary grace.
The House and grounds are available for meetings, weddings, and all other celebratory occasions. A nominal fee is charged.
Tours of the Sanders House are currently being offered during the months of June, July and August on Wednesdays and Thursdays during the week from noon to 5pm. Also, the second Friday and Saturday of each month from Noon to 5pm. Special appointments can be arranged for tours if needed.
