The Taubman Museum of Art is part of the lively metro mountain mix of arts, culture and outdoor fun in the heart of downtown Roanoke, Virginia.
The Museum offers 11 galleries as part of the Fralin Center for American Art and presents 15-20 exhibitions per year. Featured artists have ranged from Kehinde Wiley to John James Audubon and from Yoko Ono to Norman Rockwell. The Museum is also home to a respected permanent collection featuring the work of artists such as Thomas Cowperthwaite Eakins, John Singer Sargent, Purvis Young, Petah Coyne and John Cage, to name just a few.
Art Venture, the Museum’s hands-on creativity center for kids, offers 14 art-making stations with projects tied to the exhibitions on view. Families can enjoy the galleries, then get creative making their own masterpieces together.
Daily general admission is free, and the Museum offers one to two special ticketed exhibitions per year. Art Venture is $5 per person and free for children under 2.
Hours of operation are Friday-Saturday 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday 12-5 p.m. Virtual programming is offered on the Museum’s web site and social media channels.
