As a guitar player, Wayne Henderson has taken his three finger style of guitar picking all over the world as a member of the Masters of Steel String Guitar tour. But his favorite place to be is in his guitar shop making guitars that make Eric Clapton and others of that ilk sound good. This festival provides scholarships for youth to learn mountain music and is held in Grayson Highlands State Park, one of the most scenic of Virginia’s parks. Getting to hear Wayne play is treat enough, but you’ll also hear a full day’s lineup of great artists and the guitar picking contest. The skill level of the contest is in the stratosphere, due to the desire for first prize –a brand new Henderson guitar.
