About the Festivals | Major Venues

The Galax Old Fiddlers Convention is a week-long celebration of traditional music held each year in Felts Park in Galax, Virginia. The Convention is held annually during the first full week of August. Presented by Galax Moose Lodge #733, it is recognized as the world’s oldest and largest Fiddlers Convention, first established in 1935.

In 2026, the event celebrates its 90th Anniversary. Thousands of musicians and music fans from around the world gather to perform, compete, and enjoy live music both on stage and throughout the campgrounds.

In addition to the competitions and stage performances, the convention features camping, vendors, and jam sessions that continue late into the night, creating a lively and immersive celebration of old-time and bluegrass music traditions.
