Since the 1980’s, the Floyd Country Store has been known as a community gathering place built on the celebration of traditional Southern Appalachian music and dance. The Floyd Country Store is renowned as a place to experience authentic Appalachian music and is home to a group of musicians and dancers who carry on the local traditions. Whether picking on the front porch, at the Sunday jam, or dancing at the Friday Night Jamboree, traditional music continues to bring people together in Floyd.

The Store is also a real country store, where visitors will find barrels of old-fashioned candy, a lunch counter with homemade country food, hand-dipped ice cream at The Soda Fountain and interesting finds from toys to provisions to kitchenware. The Floyd Country Store is also home to The Handmade Music School, which is dedicated to teaching old time, bluegrass, and traditional music and dance from the Blue Ridge Mountains.
