Mac Traynham was born in the Tidewater region of Virginia, but was drawn to the mountains as most folks are, by its music. After a visit to the world famous Galax Old Fiddler’s Convention, Mac moved to the town of Blacksburg in 1975 and began immersing himself in the music of Southwest Virginia. After moving to Grayson County in 1981, Mac began a stint in a cabinet making shop where his love for woodworking spawned his passion for building banjos as well as furniture. Mac continues to build banjos today in Grayson County, Virginia and is a familiar face at old time camps and festivals across the nation.
