The Appalachian Showcase at the Clapboard House features the traditional and contemporary work from the hands and hearts of over 70 craftsmen and artisans scattered like seeds throughout the region. There is a good mix of wood, pottery, baskets, jewelry, soap, lotion, textiles, books, music, photography, art, stained glass, and handmade paper items from LuAnn Vermillion, a fifth generation craftsman. There is also coal memorabilia, and very popular, pictures of many of the old schools from the early days of Wise County. Featured in nice old showcases, you can find wooden bowls, pottery, rugs, coal pens, Music of Coal Mining Songs from the Appalachian Coalfields, and books on Appalachia.
