Douthat State Park, one of Virginia’s most beautiful parks, straddles Bath and Alleghany counties. The park is on the National Register of Historic Places. Douthat is one of the original six Virginia State Parks that opened on June 15, 1936. It’s nestled in the Allegheny Mountains and features some of Virginia’s most outstanding scenery. A 50-acre lake there offers swimming, boating and seasonal trout fishing.
 

Douthat has efficiencies, one-bedroom cabins, two-bedroom cabins and one three-bedroom cabin. Also available are a five-bedroom lodge and two six-bedroom lodges. The cabins are pet-friendly; there is a fee per pet per night.

Douthat is well-known for its delightful, inviting campsites. Some offering a splendid view of Douthat Lake. The campgrounds are pet-friendly. Camping is available year-round in Whispering Pines campground. Total sites: 87
