Dragon Bite Books & Crafts is Roanoke’s hybrid secondhand bookshop and creative reuse center.
Dragon Bite’s secondhand book selection though eclectic aims to highlight historically marginalized voices, including those of the LGBTQIA+ community and BIPOC authors, and to help to make these stories visible and accessible. The collection includes a good number of books for beginning readers as well as more advanced readers.
Dragon Bite accepts donations of pre-loved books as well as craft supplies – including fabric, yarns, paints and paintbrushes, writing utensils, wood pieces, stamps, beads, and jewelry making supplies – leftover from your completed projects or that were bought or gifted with good intentions but that are now cluttering your crafting spaces. These are then resold at secondhand prices, offering them a second chance to inspire, and lowering the cost of new projects for the area’s artists and crafters.
Dragon Bite aims to keep materials from landfills as long as is possible and to make art in all of its forms more accessible. There are spaces and games indoors and out to encourage play and connection, classes and events held on-site, and a small private event space available.
