Historic Leeman Field park, once known as the world’s largest enclosed ballpark from the mid 1930-1950s, located in Pennington Gap, has many activities for the whole family. In the park, tennis, basketball, pickleball courts and sand volleyball, 18-hole disc golf, a 1.4 mile walking trail which extends out on the greenway along the river, 2 children’s playgrounds, a sand box, swimming pool, baseball fields, access to the trout stocked Powell River, a horse arena and 3 picnic pavilions. Leeman Field RV Park is adjacent to the recreation park making this a destination for outdoor lovers. Seasonal activities include rodeos, Independence Day Celebration, annual Lee County Fair, Christmas Fantasy in Lights with ice skating, dirt drag racing and much more.
