Built in 1916, Maridor received its name from its third owner, Marion Augustus Smyth, President of National Business College who re-named the home “Maridor” after his two children, Marion and Dorothy.Maridor is just blocks away and within easy walking distance of the lovely Grandin Village with its many specialty shops, restaurants or the renowned Grandin Theatre. Downtown Roanoke is a short drive away as is the wonderful and picturesque Blue Ridge Parkway. Roanoke College, Hollins University, Ferrum College and Virginia Tech University are all within a short distance.
