More About Patrick Henry's Red Hill

Patrick Henry lived in several homes, but he loved best this plantation on the Staunton River which he fondly called “one of the garden spots of the world.” The “Voice of the Revolution” moved to Red Hill, Henry’s last home and burial place, in 1794 at the age of 57. Visit the reconstructed house and dependencies, the original law office, and the grave of Patrick Henry himself. The Visitor Center and museum house the largest collection of Henry artifacts in the world, including the famous Peter F. Rothermel oil painting, Patrick Henry before the Virginia House of Burgesses. Annual events include a Naturalization Ceremony, Patrick Henry’s Birthday Celebration on May 29, Independence Day Celebration on July 4, and Christmas Open House.

Open Monday thru Saturday 9:00 am–5:00 pm; Sundays 1:00–5:00 pm (November–March: close at 4:00 pm). Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s. Visitor Center is accessible.
