Salthouse Branch Park is located on the shores of Philpott Lake nestled in the rugged foothills of Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains. Philpott Lake boasts a 3,000 acre reservoir that features 100 miles of shoreline. Philpott Lake’s clear water and natural shoreline make it a unique place for visitors to enjoy a multitude of activities
Salthouse Branch Park offers outdoor adventure for campers, swimmers, boaters and hikers. Wildlife is abundant throughout the area. Deer, turkeys, squirrels, raccoons and a variety of songbirds and waterfowl are commonly viewed for the true nature enthusiasts. Anglers enjoy fishing for large and smallmouth bass, walleye, bluegill, crappie and catfish. When it’s time to eat, enjoy a picnic in one of our picnic areas or take a swim.
Salthouse Branch offers a Nature Trail, the trail is a narrow half-mile loop within the Park at Philpott Lake that runs along Salthouse Branch on one side, intersects with Dogwood Glen, a 4.5 mile (one way) trail that leads to Philpott Dam, then continues back to the trailhead through forested foothills
The Park will be open through November 30.
