Henry County Parks and Recreation provide a convenient access point for paddlers to enjoy the scenic Smith River. Parking is available on site. After entering from Marrowbone Creek, paddlers will encounter a scenic 4-mile stretch of the Smith River, passing through mature hardwood forests with spectacular views of wildlife. Paddlers can take out on river left at the Mitchell Bridge(Route 636)Access. Points of interest within this section include a side trip up Leatherwood Creek and a few islands. Class I & II rapids are possible and paddlers should check USGS gauges. Paddlers should be aware that the entrance ramp is steep and that the water temperature is cold year round.
