Clinchco Days/Shifty Powers Days began in 1994. People gather from all around, and some would mark their calendars for the special event and travel many miles to come home to celebrate, visit with old friends and family. Everyone looked forward to visiting the Darrell “Shifty” Powers exhibit, Darrell was a non-commissioned officer with Easy Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, in the 101st Airborne Division during World War II. Many types of events would be going on such as horseshoe and corn hole contests for the young and old, greasy pole climbing. Music would vary from blue grass to current favorites. Cake walks, to bouncy houses for the young. Pancake breakfast is served by the Clinchco Kiwanis, and food vendors would set up.
