The Historic 1908 Courthouse serves as the Art & Cultural Center of Grayson County, Virginia. Located at the junction of highways US21 and US58 in Southwest Virginia, the 1908 Courthouse is in the center of Independence.

For over 20 years, the Historic 1908 Courthouse has sponsored an Old-time Mountain Music Jam. Enjoy the jam outside of the gazebo in the summer months, and inside surrounded by historical exhibits in the winter months. Local musicians, as well as locals and travelers, join the jam each week. If you play, bring your instrument. If not, just sit back and listen, or if so moved, dance!

The Historic 1908 Courthouse Old-Time Mountain Music Jam takes place Wednesday nights, from 6:30 – 9:00 PM.
